Bachelor of Commerce
Bachelor of Commerce or B. Com is the most favored courses for the 12th Commerce stream students to pursue after completing their schooling. There are however several reasons for this course to become so popular among the students. First, the academic difficulty level of this course is not very high, which allows students to go through the B. Com program relatively easier and earn the degree.
Another advantage of this course is that it allows the interested students venture into other related fields such as vocational courses, MBA and other Skill oriented courses.
Additionally, the number of seats for B. Com course is high as the number of Government and Private Institutes offer it across the country. So students find it relatively easier to find a seat in suitable college to pursue this course.
The duration of B. Com course is three years and after completing the course, students can opt for M. Com or Master of Commerce as well, which has two years duration. Students interested in teaching may go for these two courses.
Pursuing a B. Com degree can also let you apply for numerous job opportunities in both Government and Private sectors such as clerk, accountancy and finance positions in companies and Government offices.
Law or L.L.B
Earlier L.L.B can only be pursued after completing graduation. But, after the implementation of the new rule, even the 12th pass Commerce students can opt for Law or L.L.B courses from the Law Schools in the country. However, the students have to go for an integrated Law course with five years duration to take advantage of this new rule. In the integrated course, the traditional L.L.B course is combined with a Degree course (for example B. Com and L.L.B or B.A. and L.L.B). Individually, the course duration for L.L.B is three years.
After completing the course, students can apply for jobs in Law firms at the start of their career and gradually may look to start their own private practice, an own Law firm or consulting firm.
Chartered Accountancy or CA
Bright Commerce Students can look for a Chartered Accountancy or CA career after their 12th Standard. The job profile of a CA involves looking after the financial affairs of companies and businesses in accordance with the rules and regulations or laws set by the corresponding Government authorities. The CAs look into financial transactions and tax affairs by auditing and then creating the necessary reports. The total duration of CA course in India is five years and three months.
You have to complete the Chartered Accountancy course successfully and then get a membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to become a C.A. After completing 12th Standard you have to apply for Common Proficiency Test or CPT managed by ICAI and after clearing this test you can appear for Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC). Upon completion of IPCC examination followed by IT Training Course, you will be eligible to sit for the CA Final examination.
You will complete the whole course of the Chartered Accountancy test once you clear the final exam and will become a C.A. The C.A. course is not easy and it is quite tough to clear the exam, but the career prospects after clearing the exam are quite exciting.
You can consider various career prospects after becoming a C.A. You can take up Finance department related positions in Government Enterprises or in Private companies. Once you have some experiences you can start working independently, operating as a private auditor or offering consultation services and get hired by different businesses and companies.

A Cost Accountant is a person who offers to perform or perform services involving the costing or pricing of goods and services or the preparation, verification or certification of cost accounting and related statements. A student can also opt to become a CMA. There are three levels of examination conducted to become a professional CMA such as Examination of CAT of the Institute/ Foundation (Entry Level) Part I Examination and Competency Level Part II Examination of CAT of the Institute.
